EquiFit Inc. Announces Sponsorship of Canadian Grand Prix Rider Angela Covert-Lawrence
Boston, MA- September 6- Equifit Inc., the company that offers a complete line of products for riders who are serious about performance, is pleased to announce their sponsorship of Canadian grand prix rider Angela Covert-Lawrence of St. Lazare, Quebec, Canada. Equifit Inc. offers an extensive range of products, including: the revolutionary T-Boot horse boots, T-Form saddle pads, and the industry’s only riding posture correction garment, ShouldersBack.
Angela Covert is originally from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and competed in the pony, hunter, and equitation divisions as a junior. At the age of 14, she entered the junior jumper ranks, and at 18 years old she was named the Canadian Equestrian Federation’s Junior Equestrian of the Year. Covert was a trainer at the world-renowned Spruce Meadows facility in Calgary before she moved back to eastern Canada in 2000.
In 2003, Covert won the $5,000 Concours Hippique du Parc Grand Prix, Blainville, QC, on Cassis and the $15,000 David B. Wood Cup in Saratoga, NY, on Lord Byron Z. Her stellar 2003 season in the Jump Canada National Talent Squad Series resulted in a nomination for one of two Development Cards under the Sport Canada Athlete Assistance program. This identified her as one of the country’s top up-and-coming riders.
Covert is married to equine dentist Mike Lawrence. They purchased the legendary Pepiniere Stables in December, 2003, and have their own business, Eastwood Equine Inc. Covert-Lawrence traveled to Wellington, FL, to compete in the Winter Equestrian Festival with Tomboy Major and Heve de Mazure, owned by Marc Sabbah. She and Tomboy Major also won the $10,000 Grand Prix at Pepiniere that May. Tomboy Major also came out on top in the $35,000 Otter Creek Grand Prix at the Manchester Classic in Vermont.
Covert-Lawrence’s other top horses include: Hamsa Grannius, Markant, Griffin, and Niels. In addition to her busy riding and coaching schedule, Covert-Lawrence is also a rider representative for Just World International, a not-for-profit, humanitarian organization whose mission is to prepare and empower students to become visionary leaders and work for social justice.
Covert-Lawrence began using Equifit’s T-Boots because she wanted a boot that was more comfortable for the horse. “I liked the fact that the material formed snugly to the fetlock area, yet didn’t cause boot rubs, and never pinches behind the knee,” she explained. “I have been very happy with this product. With the demands of a long show season, the fact that the boots absorb concussion was also important and very appealing to me.”
Equifit, Inc. is dedicated to helping riders improve and become more competitive. In addition to Covert-Lawrence, they are proud to work with 2004 Athens Olympic silver medalist McLain Ward, as well as grand prix riders Michael Morrissey, Peter Breakwell IV, Joie Gatlin, Callan Solem, and Australian Three-Day event rider Christine Bates.
Equifit’s product line includes six different models of T-Boots. T-1 and T-2 are both open front tendon boot models, T-3 is a closed front boot, while the T-4 and T-5 are hind ankle boots. The newest boots are the T-6, which are hind ankle boots that offer double Velcro closures. The boots are all easy-on, durable, and are offered with either lint-resistant Velcro closures (T-1, T-3, T-4, and T-6) or attractive leather closures (T-2, T-5).
They have also expanded their line to include two new T-Boots. The T-Boot Luxe is made of top quality, water resistant, brown French leather. It is neoprene free and combines a sophisticated look with the technologically advanced T-Foam lining.
It is manufactured by CWD Sellier, who provide the ultimate leather products in equine sports performance. They concentrate on producing the best equipment and join the aesthetic of the best French classicism with modern innovation. The T-Boot EXP has leather-like styling and an extremely durable shell. It also features removable, washable T-Foam liners that can also be replaced.
Designed by an orthopedic company, the T-Boot Series is filled with T-Foam, a revolutionary pressure-relieving viscoelastic material that conforms to the horse’s body, providing maximum support and pressure-point dispersal and eliminating chafing and abrasion.
Under body pressure and heat, T-Foam conforms and molds to all contours and bone structures of the horse’s legs and absorbs up to 90 percent of all impact. Because the fit is exact, support and stability are maximized, dirt and debris build-up is minimized, and pressure points are eliminated. When the T-Boots are removed, T-Foam recovers 100 percent of its original shape, ready to provide a perfect custom fit for every horse, every time.
In addition to boots, the T-Foam material is used in the T-Form saddle pads that fit a wide range of saddles and come in a saddle shape or a square shape. Both feature a removable, easy to wash, faux sheepskin cover. They mold to every anatomical detail of the saddle and horse’s back. Using open-cell foam technology, the pad is exceptionally light, breathable, and easy to clean and maintain.
Although Equifit mostly sponsors grand prix riders, their boots and saddle pads can be used for a wide array of equestrian disciplines, including dressage, eventing, endurance, reining, trail riding, and racing.
Equifit president Alexandra Cherubini, of Boston, MA, is also an equestrian. “I developed the T-Boot series after years of trying different boots on the market,” said Cherubini. “There really was nothing out there that addressed the full range of issues and conditions that horses encounter in the show ring and in everyday work.” Cherubini competes in the Adult Hunter and Jumper divisions and uses her products on her horses.
